Pleasant Street is a short dead-end street in North Billerica in Concord River Park, running from Pollard Street toward the Concord River to Waterview Avenue. It was laid out on the "Plan of Concord River Park, North Billerica, Mass.," drawn by Whitman and Howard, civil engineers, of Boston for the heirs of Owen Murningham, dated January 25, 1911 and recorded March 23, 1911 (Plan Book 28, Plan 49). The plan shows 74 house lots between Pollard Street and the river, with River View Avenue, now Waterview Avenue, looping through them and Pleasant Street running from Pollard Street to a small circle on the avenue. The name is the plan's own; the reason for it is not recorded.
The street list of the 1941 directory gives "Pleasant (NB) from Pollard to Riverview av," and it is listed the same way in 1942, 1949, 1951 and 1957. The assessors date the older houses on it to about 1953 and 1955; another was built about 2012. Pleasant Street was never accepted by the town: it was one of the streets in Article 25 of the fall town meeting of October 2001, "Pleasant St, Pollard St to Waterview Ave," 386 feet, and that article was dismissed. It kept its name through the renamings of 1988 to 1991.
Records naming a "Pleasant Street" in North Billerica must be read with care. Mt. Pleasant Street, the old road from North Billerica to Tewksbury, was often written simply Pleasant Street, as in a deed of 1937 for land "on the northerly side of Pleasant Street, formerly known as Mt. Pleasant Street," and the town reports of the 1920s to 1940s that mention work on Pleasant Street most likely mean that road.
